Badal takes pot shots at Amarinder

Chandigarh, Jun 25 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today took pot shots at his predecessor as state Congress chief Amarinder Singh made his maiden presence in the on-going budget session. “I was desperate to see Amarinder”, leader of the House Badal remarked noticing the presence of his predecessor for the first time in the on-going budget session. “It was due to Amarinder I became a Chief Minister again …I will place his photograph in my drawing room”, he said in a lighter vain with Amarinder remaining seated on his opposition bench. During Zero Hour the Chief Minister said, “I am not sure whether Amarinder will again come to the assembly. I welcome Amarinder with folded hands”. It was for the first time in the on-going budget session that both Amarinder and his betenoire Rajinder Kaur Bhattal were present in the assembly. It was on rare occasions that Amarinder attended the sessions during the previous term of the Badal government. At the end of Badal’s digs on Amarinder’s presence in the House, SAD MLA Sohan Singh Thandal referred to reports in the media on alleged meter tampering in Amarinder’s New Moti Bagh Palace at Patiala. “How can one expect to bail out farmers from power crisis, when stories are appearing in the media about meter tampering at Amarinder’s residence”, he quipped. An infuriated Amarinder blamed the Chief Minister for trying to humiliate him by sending teams from the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for inspecting the New Moti Bagh Palace in Patiala. He regretted that Badal could stoop so low to humiliate him out of political rivalry. MORE PTI VJ
