Funding for a popular Science World outreach program designed to stimulate youth interest in science was axed by the provincial government Thursday.

The province informed the not-for-profit organization that it will no longer receive an annual contribution of $1 million to run the the B.C. Program for the Awareness and Learning of Science.

Science World has run the youth outreach program in partnership with the Ministry of Education for the past seven years.

Science educators across the province are saying innovation in this province will suffer, the CBC’s Mychaylo Prystupa reports.
